Come Grow With Us!

Right now, you are probably either a current Student or a Graduate and you are interested in moving into a teaching role.  Fantastic!  You are in the right place.  IIH is on a mission – a mission to heal the world and we need your help to expand our reach and create a network of highly skilled hypnotherapists across the country and the world.  Won’t you join us?

You are taking an exciting first step into a dynamic opportunity to grow with the school while continuing to grow in your practice.   The career path within IIH is as unlimited as your imagination.  Typically, you progress through 4 Levels:  Graduates train to become Supervisor Aides.  Supervisor Aides train to become Supervisors.  Supervisors can then train to become an Instructor, and then ultimately, with time and experience, become a Director of their own location.  You are taking an exciting first step into a dynamic opportunity to grow with the school while continuing to grow in your practice.

Level 1 – Supervisor Aide:  The Supervisor Aide role is an unpaid support role performed by a graduate in good standing.  Supervisor Aides work with Directors, Instructors, and Supervisors during all or part of an in-person Practicals weekend in various capacities – supporting the staff while small groups of students move through the exercises.  Ideally, a Supervisor Aide attends one of each set of Practicals to observe and gain experience with each exercise in each of the five modules.  The intention is to transition you into the Supervisor role as soon as you have had enough hands-on experience and as quickly as your schedule allows and as student capacity requires.  There are several locations at which to gain this experience.  Due to the unique accommodations, we are making for COVID, there are several opportunities to get this training in quickly and efficiently, as long as space allows. NOTE:  As this role is much like that of an Intern, neither your travel to and from these opportunities nor your accommodations is paid for.

Level 2 – Supervisor: The Supervisor role is a paid support role performed by a graduate in good standing.  Supervisors work with Directors, Instructors, and other Supervisors during all or part of an in-person “Practicals Weekend” in various capacities – supporting the staff in moving small groups of students through the exercises.  While performing the role, a Supervisor is a representative of IIH and follows the direction of the Instructor or Director, and does not introduce or disseminate handouts, models, or techniques outside the scope of IIH content. As you know, there are 5 “Practical Weekends” – one for each module of the training.  A “Practical Weekend” consists of 3 days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30am – 6:30pm.  Typically, a Supervisor is scheduled for the entire weekend – all three days and arrives 15 minutes early.  You may supervise as much as your availability allows, yet the need for Supervisor support is contingent upon student enrollment.  The School desires to keep a student/staff ratio of 5:1.  So the need for your support may be subject to changes in enrollment, attrition, and shifting student schedules.  You will be notified well in advance, of the need for your support.  Invitations to Supervise will be extended in order of seniority, availability and willingness to work all three days.  IIH will communicate Supervisor needs no less than four weeks prior to each “Practical Weekend.”  In the event of too few students scheduled for a “Practical Weekend.” (less than 5:1 ratio) and with no less than two weeks’ notice, Supervisors may be released from their support obligation.  A Supervisor receives $200 per day or $600 for the entire “Practical Weekend.” Just as with any other employment, neither your travel to and from the “Practical Weekends,” nor your accommodations is paid for.

Level 3 – Instructor:  The Instructor role is a paid role performed by a graduate in good standing who has already performed the role of Supervisor for some time.  In some cases, Instructors work directly with or for a Director and are often supported by Supervisors and/or Supervisor Aides during all or part of an in-person “Practicals Weekend” in various capacities – leading students through the exercises during their in-person or online practical weekends.  While performing the role, an Instructor is a representative of IIH and follows the direction of the Director, if applicable, and does not introduce or disseminate handouts, models, or techniques outside the scope of IIH content.  As you know, there are 5 “Practical Weekends” – one for each module of the training.  A “Practical Weekend” consists of 3 days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30am – 6:30pm.  Typically, an Instructor is scheduled for the entire weekend – all three days and arrives 30 minutes early.  You may instruct as much as your availability allows, yet the need for Instructors is contingent upon student enrollment in your location or online.  The School desires to keep a student/staff ratio of 5:1.  So the need for your support may be subject to changes in enrollment, attrition, and shifting student schedules.  You will be notified well in advance, of the need for your support.  An Instructor receives $1000 for the entire “Practical Weekend.” Just as with any other employment, neither your travel to and from the “Practical Weekends,” nor your accommodations are paid for.

Level 4 – Director:  The Director role is a paid role performed by a graduate in good standing who has already performed the role of Supervisor and Instructor for some time.  Directors are often supported by Instructors, Supervisors, and/or Supervisor Aides during all or part of an in-person “Practicals Weekend” in various capacities – leading students through the exercises during their in-person or online practical weekends.  While performing the role, a Director is a representative of IIH and does not introduce or disseminate handouts, models, or techniques outside the scope of IIH content.   As you know, there are 5 “Practical Weekends” – one for each module of the training.  A “Practical Weekend” consists of 3 days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30am – 6:30pm.  Typically, a Director is scheduled for the entire weekend – all three days and arrives 30 minutes early. A Director receives $1000 for the entire “Practical Weekend.” Just as with any other employment, neither your travel to and from the “Practical Weekends,” nor your accommodations is paid for.

Next Steps

Current Students:  The first step for Current Students is to focus on and finish your curriculum.  Take your final exam and celebrate.  Take a breather and relax.  You worked hard for your accomplishment and reflecting on how much you have learned and how much have grown.  Focus time and attention in building your practice and client base.  Then get some practice under your belt.  You will definitely need those client case studies for reference when you work with future students.  Revisit the videos and live classes.  Take the Interpersonal Hypnotherapy CEU, if you haven’t already so you can understand the entire arc of the IIH model.  Then, about 6 months after you graduate, contact us via the form below and let us know you are ready and would like to be considered for the Supervisor Aide Level.  Upon receipt of your request for consideration, we will contact you with the next steps.

Graduates:  The first step for Graduates (who have been out in the field for at least 6 months) is to ensure you are in good standing with the school.  This means, you have resolved any outstanding financial issues.  Revisit the videos and live classes.  If you do not have access to the Student Portal, contact StudentServices@instituteofhypnotherapy.com for help.
